Commission member remarks
● King was looking for a contact for the Carson complaint, she followed up and linked
Carson with the Attorney General’s office.
● King received a report from the state police and it was provided to the rest of the
commission for review.
● King followed up on Mayor Schwartzman's request to know the commission's objectives
and focus. He felt our response was broad and would be able to use us more in the
future. King to continue to clear up discrepancies between what is in our jurisdiction and
what is not through conversations with the mayor and the city administrator. King
informed the commission of the mayor’s request that the commission provide a list of top
three ways we can advance racial equality.
● King to work with Grimes to finish the narrative for the infographic that was created last
month.
● McKillip and Lopez reviewed the training that will be required by city employees and felt
it was valuable. Pease believes the training could be available this month and made
mandatory.
● King asked the commission to read through NAACP report and pick out 3-5 points we
want the city to address first. These need to be sent to King by August 20th so she can
compile into one document.
● King reports she cannot get a hold of the owners of the event hall to address the
complaint that was submitted last month. The complainant plans to seek legal counsel.
