Meeting called to order on January 6, 2022 at 6:02pm by King.
Members Present: King, Donaldson, Dabale, Grimes, Kelley, Wallace, McKillip
City Liaison: Pease
Review of minutes. Grimes motioned to approve minutes. Wallace seconded.
Chairman’s remarks
● King sent the document to Mayor Schwartzman. He is unable to attend the meeting
tonight, but did agree to review the document regarding the Commission’s plans for the
future.
New Business
● Mr. Dion Jones was present to discuss his complaint against the Knox County Housing
Authority. Mr. Jones states concerns with his apartment accommodations and feels that
he is not being allowed to move into a more accessible apartment after spending several
months on a waitlist. Grimes asked if Mr.Jones was given any documentation as to the
criteria to move into another apartment. Mr. JOnes states that was not provided to him.
King will follow up with the housing manager. Donaldson asked if King could inquire
about the priorities for moving into the building and internally from one apartment to
another. Dabale and King will work together to gather more information about this
situation and will report back to the commission next month.
Commission Member Remarks & Community Events
● Black History Month Celebrations are being planned. There will be an event at the library
and possibly another trivia night.
● There is a play coming up with community theatre
● There is a Martin Luther King Celebration on the 17th via Zoom

Donaldson made a motion to adjourn at 6:59pm, Grimes seconded.
