SUBJECT: October 10, 2022 Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Meeting Minutes
The regular meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order by Chairman Robert Fulton
on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11:30 a.m.
Those present in person were: Chairman Robert Fulton, Commissioner Thomas Peters, Commissioner Diane VanHootegem,
Deputy Chief Dan Hostens, Fire Chief Randy Hovind, Secretaries Jenni Moser, Amanda Jennings and Courtney LaFollette.

Approve
Commissioner Peters motioned to approve the minutes of the August 15, 2022 regular meeting. Commissioner
VanHootegem seconded the motion. Minutes approved.
Correspondence
None
Old Business
Deputy Chief Hostens advised
Fire Chief Hovind provided a new preliminary firefighter eligibility list along with 2022 testing stats. The department is
currently down one with the possibility of one retiring early next year. Many of the first few candidates on the list will be
able to start right away.
Police Promotional Testing - Results will be posted on Friday, October 14.
Fire Entry Level Testing – The new eligibility list will go into effect the first part of December. New candidates will not
be able to go the academy until March of next year.
Police Entry Level Testing – One more interview was scheduled for today. During the last testing session, a total of 11
tested. Eight passed and three failed. There will be one candidate from the old list added to the new list. Since the next
available academy is May 2023 more discussion regarding the next round of testing will be held at the December meeting.

New Business
The fall seminar will be held November 4 & 5th. All three commissioners plan on attending.
There being no further business, a motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Commissioner Peters and seconded by
Commissioner VanHootegem. Meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
The next regular scheduled meeting will take place on Monday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. in the
Administrative Conference Room, City Hall, Galesburg, Illinois.
