Roll Call: Present: Members: Dave Selkirk, Steve Cheesman, Paul Sandborg, Rodney Bunch, Jerry Reynolds, Greenskeeper Matt Miles, Head Golf Professional Bryan Luedtke, Director of Parks & Recreation Tony Oligney-Estill Absent: Park Superintendent Don Miles Minutes of October 27, 2020 meeting were approved. Greenkeeper Report: Greenskeeper Matt Miles reported: ● Fall fertilizer was applied to rough areas that are in play. ● Rough areas with heigh cart traffic were aerified with the Bannerman fracture tines. ● Core aerification of the fairways were started. ● The irrigation system and golf course bathrooms have been shut down and winterized. ● Fall leaf blowing and mulching continued. ● Tall grass areas have been cut down. ● Dirt and seed work around the course were done. ● Repairs to 16 green from vandalism were accomplished. This hole has been shut down for the remainder of the year to give the grass a chance to grow in. The hole will not be open until Greenskeeper Miles determines the green is safe to play on again. Report was reviewed and accepted. Golf Professional Report: Head Golf Professional Bryan Luedtke reported: ● October Golf o Up over 700 rounds for the month compared to last October o Over double the amount of paying rounds (426/864) compared to last October o Up over $11,500 in total revenue for the month o Food and Beverage up $3,000 o Merchandise down slightly ($900) from last October o Range ball sales tripled from the previous year ● Spring SHAMBLE Rescheduled o The event was cancelled in May and rescheduled to November 6th o 68 players participated o Beautiful day with warm and sunny weather ● Masters Pool o 22 total players CITY OF GALESBURG Parks and Recreation Department Operating Under Council – Manager Government Since 1957 _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Page 2 of 3 o 14 players played in the Skins Game o No food or beverages were allowed in the clubhouse, so the turnout was a little lighter this year ● November golf is booming o On pace to quadruple the number of rounds from last November o On pace to increase revenue over $12,000 from last November o Lots of paying rounds with our $19 Octoberfest Special o Lots of patio usage from this past summer through the fall • Passes sold through 11/23/20. The amount listed for 2019 is for the entire year of 2019. o Regular – 63, up 2 from 2019 o Senior – 96, down 6 from 2019 o Associate – 8, same as 2019 o Family – 1, same as 2019 o Minor – 8, down 6 from 2019 o Junior – 13, up 6 from 2019 o Young Adult – 6, down 3 2019 o First Time Season Pass – 40, up 9 from 2019 o Default – 26, up 11 from 2019 • Total cards sold through 11/23/2020. The amount listed for 2019 is for the entire year of 2019. o 10 Round (9 holes) – 12, up 4 from 2019 o 10 Round (18 holes) – 10, down 6 from 2019 o 20 Round – 0, down 15 from 2019 o Default – 0, down 1 from 2019 Report was reviewed and accepted. Old Business: ● None New Business: ● Bryan had some ideas for the clubhouse in 2021. o Add a camera showing the 18th green on a 15-minute tape delay so after people finish playing, they can watch themselves on a TV that shows the video on a TV. o Add electrical outlets on the patio. o Add music/speakers to the clubhouse, patio, 1st tee, putting area and driving range. o Add a larger TV for the clubhouse. o Add portable heaters for the patio. o Add rope lights around the patio.
