Tony Oligney-Estill responded saying that he has researched lightning detection systems just a couple years ago. There are pros and cons of having such a system. Some pros are the system catches every lightning strike (ground or in the air) within a set distance (Tony thought a mile was the minimum distance) and the horns are spread out throughout the course. Some cons are the system catches every lightning strike and everyone on the course would be required to stop play for 30 minutes of no lightning strikes. If the system detected lightning within that 30 minute period, the 30 minute wait time would start over from the last lightning strike. Citizen Comments: ● Peter Schwartzman asked about golf cart rates for one of his constituents. The question was if the cost of renting a cart is $13, why doesn’t that rate get reduced if two people ride in the cart. The Commissioners and Head Golf Professional said it is industry standard to charge each person the same rate and in fact, if someone wants a cart all by themselves, they can pay $26 to guarantee they have no one riding with them. Meeting adjourned at 5:15 P.M. Next Golf Commission Meeting will be on April 27, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. ___________________________________ Tony Oligney-Estill, Director of Parks and Recreation
