Roll Call: Present: Dave Selkirk, Rodney Bunch, Stan Devlin, Jerry Reynolds, Bob Reedy, Greenkeeper Matt Miles, Golf Professional Bryan Luedtke, Alderman Steve Cheesman, Parks and Recreation Director Don Miles. Absent: none Minutes: Minutes from the March meeting were approved, with a motion from Bunch, 2nd by Devlin. Reports: Parks and Recreation Director: Director Miles reported that the correct bridge railing may be installed either May 3rd or May 6th. Monday the 6th may be the more appropriate day with less golf traffic to have the bridge closed for the installation. Staff are going to meet with a drainage consultant to discuss the drainage project budgeted for this year. Alderman: Alderman Cheesman reported that he and the rest of the council ar e wanting to get some things accomplished, but it does take time. He also stated that he has been out on the course during weekend afternoons and has noticed many new and younger players on the course. The course is very busy during these times as well. Greenkeeper: Greenkeeper Miles reported that golf course accessories have been put out. New divot fill containers have been placed on the par three tees. Irrigation lines were filled and leaks have been repaired. Regular mowing has begun with the mild and rainy weather. Green collars were aerated prior to greens aerification. Greens were deep tine aerated, sand applied , brushed in, and fertilizer applied. Golf Professional: Golf Professional Luedtke reported that March rounds were up 1,478 from 2023, a new record. Total revenue is up. 31 players played in the Masters Skin game, which was a new record for Parks and Recreation Department _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Page 2 of 2 the event. 47 players participated in the Masters Pool. Upcoming events include the Jeppi Memorial outing May 4th, Spring Shamble May 9th, Callaway Demo Day May 15th, and the Centennial Superball on June 9th. He also stated that golf shop staff are improving and that returning college students will be back soon to help out and make things run more smoothly. Old Business: Dave Selkirk mentioned that April 24th was the official opening day back in 1924 for Bunker Links. Rodney Bunch reiterated that he would like to see holes #10 and #14 lengthened in the future. New Business: Rodney Bunch asked if the grass in front of #4 tee could be left to grow tall to reduce mowing. It was discussed that many golfers may hit their tee shorts into the area, thus slowing down the pace of play. Citizen Comments: Wayne Miles asked about the culvert being proposed to be installed on hole #1. He asked if a concrete box culvert would be better than a metal culvert. Director Miles explained that Engineering staff would be determining which option would the best and most economical for the project.
