Golf Commission Minutes, June 25th, 2024
City Hall, Galesburg, Illinois
Meeting was called to order by Dave Selkirk at 4:00 pm
Roll Call: Present: Members: Dave Selkirk, Stan Devlin, Bob Reedy, Greenkeeper Matt
Miles, Golf Professional Bryan Luedtke, Parks and Recreation Director Don Miles
Council Liaison Steve Cheesman
Absent: Rodney Bunch, Jerry Reynolds
Minutes: Minutes from the May meeting were approved, with a motion from Reedy, 2nd by
Devlin.
Reports:
Parks and Recreation Director;
Director Miles reported that the new sign at the entrance had been completed. Met with a
company that will assist with the design of the drainage project that is still expected to happen
later this fall. Still working with Engineering staff on the replacement of the bridge on hole #1.
Council Liaison:
Steve Cheesman reported that the City has a Strategic Planning session coming up and he wants
to make sure that the golf course and other recreational facilities are part of the discussion.
Greenkeeper:
Greenkeeper Miles reported that the greens were spiked, top-dressed with sand and brushed
in. An application of products to prevent hydrophobic areas was applied and watered in. An
irrigation leak was repaired next to the putting green. Repairs were made to the cart paths and
parking areas with cold patch asphalt. Otherwise, staff have been busy repairing machinery and
keeping up with the mowing, maintenance, and turf applications.
Golf Professional:
Golf Professional Luedtke reported that 4,860 rounds were played in May, a new record for the
month. Revenue is up $4,643 compared to May of last year. Merchandise and Food & Beverage
are doing well. Nine hole rounds are increasing. The Centennial Superball had 120 players
participate. $1,800.00 in merchandise credit was paid out. A band played afterwards, but the
turnout was not good enough to justify doing it again. Hosted the Firefighter’s outing, with 140

players, Bixby Cup with 24 players, United Way/Lolita Junk with 60 players, Ladies Invitational
with 52 players, SMART TD with 82 players, Knoxville SAL with 84 players, and the Chamber of
Commerce with 96 players. Numbers for outings are increasing as well. Upcoming outings
include Knox County Elite Volleyball and Relay for Life.

New Business:
Rates for 2025 were discussed and with a motion from Bob Reedy and a second by Dave Selkirk
a motion carried to raise 2025 rates according as follows:
Daily 18 holes green fees and carts raised $1.00 dollar each.
Regular Season Pass and cart increased $25.00 each
Senior Season pass and cart increased $25.00 each
Minor, Junior(19-25), Junior (26-30) passes increased $5.00 each
Associate Pass increased $15.00
Associate Pass cart fee increased $15.00
Additional family members increased $5.00
First Time Season Pass with cart increased $45.00
Cart storage fees for grandfathered carts increased $15.00
New cart storage fees increased $$25.00
