HomeMy WebLinkAbout210909 PTAC MinutesMINUTES Public Transportation Advisory Commission Transit Conference Room, Galesburg City Hall, 1025 Monmouth Blvd Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Vi Jowers, John Hanlon, Rose Morris, Stephanie Grimes, 4. MEMBERS PRESENT ON PHONE: Linda Miller, 1. MEMBERS ABSENT: Josh Kilpatrick, 1 OTHERS PRESENT: Kraig Boynton, Transit Manager, Dedra Mannon, Transit Operations Supervisor, Mary Foutch, Transit Assistant. Vice Chairman Hanlon declared a quorum present. Kraig Boynton, new Transit Manager, introduced himself. Vi Jowers, new commission member introduced herself. There were no Public Comments received. Approve Minutes of the August 6, 2021, meeting Member Morris moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Member Hanlon. Minutes were approved by voice vote. PZ-21-0901 Approve Selection of New Chairperson The Public Transportation Advisory Commission needed a new chairperson. Member Jowers made a motion to nominate Member Hanlon as the new Chairperson, motion was seconded by Member Miller. The motion carried. PZ-21-0902 Approve Removal of Transfers The City of Galesburg Transit staff took an approval item to the Commission in December of 2020 but after some discussion the commission wanted to bring the item back for more discussion. Member Morris and Member Miller expressed some concerns with those who must get out to OSF Hospital or Clinics. The only way to get to those appointments in most cases is to transfer. Member Morris and Member Miller asked if the City of Galesburg staff would investigate a way to provide free transfers for those who have medical needs to get to OSF Hospital and Clinics. Kraig Boynton, Transit Manager and Dedra Mannon, Operations Supervisor agreed to investigate different options and bring those ideas back to the commission. The Public Transportation Advisory Commission Members and the City of Galesburg Staff decided to table this item and bring it back at another time. Update Rebuild Illinois Grant Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging Contract Ridership Last on the agenda was an update on a few ongoing items. Kraig Boynton, Transit Manager informed the Commission that the City has applied for the Rebuild Illinois Grant and the City should be getting notification sometime this fall. Kraig also gave an update on the Western Illinois Area Agency on Aging Service Contract. He let the Commission Members know that the contract will be put in place on October first where those who are 60 and older can come in and fill out an intake form and receive rides within the City of Galesburg and Knox County. Dedra Mannon, Operations Supervisor gave an update on ridership. The ridership was much lower in 2020 at approximately 18,000 rides however, the ridership is slowly climbing back up for 2021. She along with other Transit staff are excited to see how the end of the year goes. Member Hanlon asked if there were any other comments or questions. There being no further business, a motion was made by Member Miller, seconded by Member Jowers, to adjourn the meeting at 1:26 p.m. ___________________________ Mary Foutch, Transit Assistant
