Agenda Item PT‐22‐0401
IDOT Capital Assistance Grant Application ‐‐ Consolidated Vehicle Procurement Grant
The Public Hearing was called to order at 1:05 p.m.
Kraig Boynton, Transit Manager, reported that he is completing a grant application for submission
to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) to purchase seven replacement vehicles for
the transit program. Galesburg Transportation paratransit service is requesting replacement of
two medium duty vehicles. Three vehicles will be additional vehicles used to service the City's
expanding supportive agreements to help address transportation needs for medical
appointments in Peoria or the Quad Cities and two vehicles will be used to serve on our fixed
route and paratransit as needed.
Boynton noted that Transit’s out of town pickups have increased, especially due to the closing of
Cottage Hospital and all needs being met by OSF St. Mary Medical Center. Two paratransit
vehicles will be used as backups and to serve the Gold Route.
The estimated cost is $525,000 for all seven vehicles. No local match from the City of Galesburg
is required. The funding would be 100% provided from the State and Federal governments.
A motion was made by Linda Miller, seconded by Shannon McVey, to recommend the application
for the IDOT Capital Assistance Grant Application. The motion carried.
The Public Hearing adjourned at 1:09 p.m.
