Members Present: John Peterson, Rose Morris, Linda Miller, Genny Gibson, Shannon McVey and
Stephanie Grimes, 6. Absent: Annette McAllister, 1. Also present: Kraig Boynton, Dedra Mannon,
Mary Foutch and Ron Rasberry.
Genny Gibson called the meeting to order at 1:05 p.m.
Public Comment:
None
A motion was made by Member McVey, seconded by Member Morris, to approve the minutes
of the regular meeting dated August 10, 2023. The motion carried.
Update
Kraig Boynton, Transit Manager, updated the commission on the following items:
FLEET
GRANTS
MISCELLANEOUS
Member Peterson asked about the cameras on the buses and if staff thought it was worth it.
Staff responded by saying they did think it was worth it. The cameras help administrators see
what's going on during the day as well as helping other departments when needed. Member
Miller asked if there was a need for security beside cameras.
Member Peterson asked if the new Transit Study would also look into the option of going into
the County. Kraig explained that this study would look into that option.
Member Peterson asked about the purchase of buses and how soon we would receive them
when and if awarded the CVP and Kraig shared that the new buses are built as ordered. Dedra
said we would be lucky to have them in 18 months from the time they are ordered.
Member Miller asked about how Knox County Housing clients were identified. Transit staff
explained that each KCHA Client would have an ID they would present to the driver and the
driver would then track each trip for those clients and staff would bill KCHA.
Member Gibson provided information to transit staff regarding the dental classes to Carl
Sandburg College in August of 2024.
Member Peterson motioned to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Member Grimes.
The meeting adjourned at 1:52 p.m.
