Tree Commission Minutes, June 14, 2021
City Hall, Galesburg, Illinois
Meeting was called to order by Tony Oligney-Estill at 4:07 P.M.
Roll Call: Present: Members: Pat Trant, Debbie Steinberg, Jane Easterly, and Director of
Parks & Recreation-Tony Oligney-Estill
Absent: Millie Allen, Ann Pennington
Minutes of May 10, 2021 where approved.
Arborist Report:
• No report available.
Old Business:
• None
New Business:
• City Arborist, Roy Flaig, resigned from his position effective May 21, 2021. The position
is currently open. Tony presented two possibilities on how the position could be filled.
The first was to just replace the City Arborist position. The other possibility was to fill
the open position with a Maintenance Worker with tree experience. Then, hire another
full time Maintenance Worker with landscaping experience. In order to hire two full time
positions, three summer seasonal part time positions would be eliminated. The Tree
Commission supported the second option of hiring two full time Maintenance Workers.
