Tree Commission Minutes, September 13, 2021
City Hall, Galesburg, Illinois
Meeting was called to order by Tony Oligney-Estill at 3:57 P.M.
Roll Call: Present: Members: Millie Allen, Ann Pennington, Pat Trant, Jane Easterly, and
Director of Parks & Recreation-Tony Oligney-Estill
Absent:
Minutes of August 9, 2021 where approved.
Arborist Report:
• Tony presented the Arborist Report. The report was updated through September 12,
2021.
• Pat Trant asked if Don Miles or someone from the Forestry Division would attend the
monthly meeting periodically since there is no longer an Arborist. Tony said he would
talk to staff and let the commissioners know.
Old Business:
• The City hired a new Maintenance Worker for the Forestry Division. He starts on
September 20th.
New Business:
• Don and Matt Miles went to a tree nursery a couple weeks ago and purchased trees for
both the City tree nursery and the golf course.
• The Forestry Division plans on planting several trees in September or early October.
There are at least 6 memorial trees that need to be planted this fall.
• Dan Thompson attended the meeting. Dan submitted an application to become a Tree
Commissioner last week.
