Roll Call: Present: Members: Ann Pennington, Pat Trant, Daniel Thompson, Bill Sime and Director of Parks & Recreation-Tony Oligney-Estill Absent: Jane Easterly, Daniel Leahy Minutes of January 10, 2022 where approved. Forestry Report: • Director Oligney-Estill did not get the Forestry report out to the Commissioners. Director Oligney-Estill said he would have them out to the Commissioners by February 18, 2022. Old Business: • Chairperson Pennington asked if Director Oligney-Estill had followed up with Ms. Holly Whittet Allison regarding the email she sent to Commissioner Easterly last month. Director Oligney-Estill believed he did but said he would follow up. • Discussion was had about what the Commissioners were asked to in regards to reviewing the Arboricultural Specifications Manual. Director Oligney-Estill reminded the Commissioners that they were asked to review the manual for grammar and punctuation. The Commissioners said they would work on this and have any changes to Director Oligney-Estill by the March meeting. Director Oligney-Estill mentioned that the City Clerk’s office is currently writing a draft of the Tree Ordinance to change the word Arborist to Forester staff to put the ordinance in compliance now that the City no longer has had a Arborist. • Chairperson Pennington ask Commissioner Thompson if he had any time to research the size of tree to purchase that would have the best chance of survival The City currently purchases 2” to 3” caliper trees for planting. Commissioner Thompson did not have the time to do this research but plans on having it completed by spring. New Business: • Daniel Leahy has been appointed to the Tree Commission. • Commissioner Sime volunteered to contact Steele Elementary School to see if can plant a tree on the school property as part of Arbor Day. Citizen Comments: • None. Meeting adjourned at 5:03 P.M.
