Tree Commission – July 11, 2022
City Hall, Galesburg, IL
Meeting Called to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:04 p.m.
Attendance: Members Present: Jane Easterly, Pat Trant, Dan Thompson, Bill Sime,
Daniel Leahy,
City of Galesburg:
Elizabeth Varner, Interim Director of Parks and Recreation
Don Miles, Superintendent of Parks
Absent: Daniel Leahy, Ann Pennington
Minutes: June 2022 minutes were approved.
Forestry Report:
Don Miles distributed an update of the Forestry report. Dan Thompson asked that the report
be corrected to show another tree planted by volunteers for May.
Old Business: None
New Business:
Daniel discussed more regarding the plan to obtain more information on some of the larger
trees in the city. He suggested that every tree in Standish Arboretum have a number on them
and asked that the inventory in this location be updated. Jane Easterly stated that a past
Commissioner has done this in the past, but the process did not go very far once it was passed
along to the city staff.
