Tree Commission Minutes, July 8, 2024
City Hall, Galesburg, Illinois
Meeting was called to order by Ann Pennington at 4:03 pm
Roll Call: Present: Members: Ann Pennington, Pat Trant, Dan Thompson, Bill Sime, Parks
and Recreation Director Don Miles
Absent: Jane Easterly
Minutes: Minutes from the June meeting were approved, with a motion from Dan Thompson,
seconded by Bill Sime.
Forestry Report:
The Forestry Report was provided for June. No questions, but it was noticed that the totals
were not correct. Director Miles stated that it will be corrected for the next meeting.
Old Business:
Bill Sime explained that if we order more tree tags for Standish there is a minimum of 100 to
place an order. Bill mentioned that the Library would like to tag their new trees, so we could
add them to our list to get to 100. The map for Standish still need s to be verified before we
place the next order to replace some tags that are missing and to make sure the correct
varieties are labeled. There was a short discussion about the NOVA Singers invitation to have an
informational booth at their concert next spring. Ann Pennington mentioned that we need to
work on it as we go along, so that we do not to have to rush on it later.
New Business:
Bill Sime asked if the commission was going to get a council liaison. Director Miles said that he
would ask the City Clerk about it.
