Tree Commission Minutes, August 12, 2024
City Hall, Galesburg, Illinois
Meeting was called to order by Ann Pennington at 4:00 pm
Roll Call: Present: Members: Ann Pennington, Pat Trant, Dan Thompson, Bill Sime, Jane
Easterly, Parks and Recreation Director Don Miles
Absent: none
Minutes: Minutes from the July meeting were approved, with a motion from Bill Sime,
seconded by Pat Trant.
Forestry Report:
The Forestry Report was provided for July. Director Miles stated that the drop off numbers are
higher due to the site being open four extra days to allow residents to drop off storm damage.
Director Miles also stated that the staff member overseeing the site is doing a good job keeping
the wrong items out of the site. Member Trant asked how long the removal list was for dead
trees. Director Miles said that the list has about 70 trees on it, but most of the trees on the list
are not dead trees.
Old Business:
Tree tags were discussed for Standish and the Library. The list and map need to be verified
before proceeding with an order.
New Business:
None.
