Tree Commission Minutes, September 9, 2024
City Hall, Galesburg, Illinois
Meeting was called to order by Ann Pennington at 4:00 pm
Roll Call: Present: Members: Ann Pennington, Pat Trant, Dan Thompson, Bill Sime, Jane
Easterly, Parks and Recreation Director Don Miles
Absent: none
Minutes: Minutes from the August meeting were approved, with a motion from Bill Sime,
seconded by Jane Easterly.
Forestry Report:
The Forestry Report was provided for August. Pat Trant asked about the number of loads
dropped off for August seemed higher than normal. Director Miles stated that i t was probably
due to citizens still cleaning up from the storm in July.
Old Business:
Brief discussions about tree tags for Standish Arboretum, the Library, and the NOVA Singer’s
proposal that was bought to the commission a few months back. It was determined to ask Darla
Krejci back to discuss the item again.
New Business:
It was decided to start looking for a site for next year’s Arbor Day tree planting. The commission
also decided to skip November’s meeting due to the Veteran’s Day holiday and have a meeting
in December.
