Easterly, Arborist Brandon Phillips, and Parks and Recreation Director Don Miles

The Forestry Report was presented by Arborist Brandon Phillips. Brandon started his position
on March 24th and is looking forward to improving the City’s Tree Program.
Pat Trant asked about the Citizen Concerns line in the report. In the past these issues were
tracked, but with the turnover of staff and the lack of staff it has been passed over.
Old Business:
The Arbor Day tree planting has finally been officially approved and is set for Friday April 25 th at
King Elementary School at 10 am. The tree will be an oak, but the species has not been
determined yet. There will be a proclamation read at the April 21 st Council meeting, Bill Sime
and Tom Simkins will be there to accept.
There was a short discussion about the display at the concert. All members stated that it went
as well as could be expected and discussed what worked and what did not in preparation for
possible future events.
The tree ordinances that Bill Sime had asked about last month had not been updated in
retrospect to the Arborist position.
New Business:
Bill Sime asked that a date be set to go through Standish Arboretum to check on any missing or
damaged tags so that an order can be placed to correct any deficiencies.
Ann Pennington stated that she had someone inquire about a memorial tree planting. Director
Miles asked Ann to direct them to his office to handle the request.
